10,000 Boxes Packed for the Homeless

Over the past three weekends, Toureen volunteers joined a host of others at our yard in Milton Keynes in aid of The St Vincent de Paul Society, packing over 10,000 boxes of winter essentials for the vulnerable and homeless.

‘Vinnie Packs’

Each year St Vincent de Paul Society members in Westminster Diocese purchase enough stock to pack and distribute over 10,000 homeless packs across the whole of England and Wales. This year each pack contained a thermal hat, two pairs of thermal socks, thermal gloves, toothpaste, toothbrush, flannel, pen, and an information sheet detailing further means of help and other charities specialising in homelessness, helping vulnerable children, migrants, and health and wellbeing, to name a few.

We were delighted with the response received when seeking volunteers, including people from Toureen Group, friends, families, and children. We can’t thank them enough for their hard work and time, giving up their weekend to help. The behind the scenes work is just as essential to the cause, and without the help, support, and kindness of the volunteers, none of it would be possible. The aid boxes will go to the most vulnerable and have a real impact on their lives, particularly over winter.

The St Vincent de Paul Society

Founded in Britain in 1844, The St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales) is part of an international voluntary network dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance and care to individuals and families who need support.

With over 10,000 members, their volunteers visit vulnerable or isolated people across England and Wales and offer them friendship and practical support. The essence of their work is person-to-person contact, believing that spending time with people is the greatest gift.
